 Cuckoo
clocks were first designed to have a chime similar to that of a
cuckoo bird, however modern quartz clocks now often feature a chime
which is actually a recording of a real life cuckoo whilst a cuckoo
figurine will pop out of a set of double doors.The history of the
cuckoo clock dates back to the 1629 when the first recorded
description was by
Philipp Hainhofer . However it wasn't until quite a bit
later that these clocks were made in the Black Forest (which is
where we associate cuckoo clocks being built) |
